The Phones Down, Eyes Up campaign was initiated in honor of Brandon Walli. Sadly, Brandon lost his life at the age of 23 while crossing the road in 2016. It was thought that he had been texting and walking at the time. Brandon’s father, Tom Walli, and Geotab now host an annual free concert, Phones Down, Eyes Up, and informational event to shed light on managing device distraction in everyday life.
Brandon and Tom Walli shared a passion for music. In honor of Brandon Walli, this year Geotab is offering a scholarship as part of Phones Down, Eyes Up for those pursuing post-secondary education in music and the arts.
Donations collected at the Phones Down, Eyes Up benefit concert will go towards the scholarship and Geotab will match the amount raised.
Please Note: The application form reads only US students can apply, but this scholarship is open to students globally that are graduating from a secondary school in 2022.
When I first heard about this scholarship from my guidance counsellor, I didn't really think I had a chance to win it. As I read through the team behind the Brandon Walli scholarship, I found that their message and ideas really resonated with me. I am beyond grateful for this scholarship as it will help me pursue my dream of becoming a music teacher which will allow me to teach and help others learn the way that I have from my own teachers.
I found out about this amazing scholarship through my schools guidance councillors, it interested me not only because it was for arts students but that it was to do with distracted driving. When I found out I won I was extremely excited, this scholarship will help me be successful to achieve my dream of going to the school of my choice and making movies.
I am so grateful to have been selected for this scholarship! I heard about The Brandon Walli “Phones Down, Eyes Up” Memorial Scholarship through Scholarships.com. This scholarship money is one step in my efforts to graduate college debt-free so I am so thankful to have gotten the opportunity to apply. Not only that, but I got to learn more about "Phones Down, Eyes Up" and the extreme importance of eliminating distracted driving.
